Mission

Since 1950, the Association of the United States Army has worked to support all aspects of national security while advancing the interests of America's Army and the men and women who serve. The Allegheny/Blue Ridge Chapter works in counties west of the Blue Ridge Mountains to provide support for Active Duty, Army Reserve, Army National Guard, and Senior and Junior ROTC. The Chapter is also committed to retirees, DA civilians, friends of the U.S. Army, and veterans, especially the residents of the Virginia Veterans Care Center and the VA Medical Center in Salem. Your donations help us support soldiers and their families. As a non-profit 501(c)3 all donations are tax-deductible.

Activities

The Allegheny/Blue Ridge Chapter supports the 240 residents of the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem Virginia. We typically host special events at the Spring and Fall Carnivals, Memorial Day, Army Day, Fourth of July, Veterans Day, and Christmas. The Chapter also hosts events at the Salem VA Medical Center which serves the Chapter AOR. 

The Chapter works with 26 Junior ROTC programs in Virginia and West Virginia and 9 Senior ROTC units to recognize cadets through special awards at their annual awards ceremony.

The Chapter works with Army National Guard and Reserve units, supporting family-related events and providing briefings on the current status of the US Army.

The Chapter sponsors and recognizes the Reserve Birthday in April and the National Guard Birthday in December each year. And it sponsors an NCO induction ceremony for those Reserve soldiers promoted to Sergeant during the previous year. The Chapter was also pleased to sponsor a door prize at the annual muster of the "Stonewall Brigade" in Staunton and recognition of the Virginia Women's Institute of Leadership at Mary Baldwin College during a general meeting of the Chapter on their campus. The door prize was a framed print "The Stonewall Brigade" at Normandy. The Chapter has donated funding for the creation of a gym at the Salem Reserve Center and for a monument to the soldiers of the Stonewall Brigade who landed at Normandy on 6 June 1945 and following.

The Chapter plans special events during the major holidays to recognize and honor all who served and are serving in the United States Army.
